Sugar and Candy and Everything Nice...

Well during lance's swell house party bash on the Saturday night, Jen aka kewtbutpycho showed me this wig she plans to get for normal wear.

I think it is really adorable and I am tempted to get it myself for sweet Lolita. Ok I am not one for pink but I like to experiment and be different at times. I would like to wear it with the pink sweet lolita dress I have (which I think it doesn't fit me anymore) or get myself a pink sweet lolita dress. I would love to do a photoshoot or look similar to the lolita in these photos. I really like these photos as it goes against the whole sweet, innocent look and they are wicked. I find them full of inspiration. ;-)

My Cat

My cat
Cool cat
Good cat
Pussy cat

When I see him walking
Makes no sense to me
My cat is everywhere
We watch him on TV

My cat is amazing
He can play the guitar
He may not be an actor
But he's a pussy superstar

My cat
Cool cat

My cat is everywhere
Sees what he can see
He may not be an actor
He acts atrociously

My cat is amazing
He can play the guitar
He may not be an actor
But he's a pussy superstar

My cat isn't crazy
he's everything to me
My cat burns the bible
And he thinks it's so funny

He isn't very good
He isn't very smart
He may not be Picasso
But he is a work of art

Do you hate me as much as I hate you?

My cat
Cool cat
Good cat
Pussy cat

When I see him walking
Makes no sense to me
My cat is everywhere
We watch him on TV

My cat is amazing
He can play the guitar
He may not be an actor
But he's a pussy superstar

My cat isn't crazy
He's everything to me
My cat burns the bible
And he thinks it's so funny

He isn't very good
He isn't very smart
He may not be Picasso
But he is a work of art

My cat is handsome
He can play the guitar
He can break my arm in seven places
He can eat a whole watermelon
My cat my cat

Jeremy Spoken in Class Today

This is a very powerful song which brings back memories when I first heard it. Great song and great video.

I only found now that the song is actually a true story. There really was a boy called Jeremy who committed suicide in front of his English class in 1991. It is crazy when I think of stories of students or teenagers who committed suicide or go an a killing spree because they were bullied in school. I wonder what goes in their heads to make them do it. There is always other ways out.

I really agree with this quote about the song,

It came from a small paragraph in a paper which means you kill yourself and you make a big old sacrifice and try to get your revenge. That all you're gonna end up with is a paragraph in a newspaper. Sixty-three degrees and cloudy in a suburban neighborhood. That's the beginning of the video and that's the same thing is that in the end, it does nothing … nothing changes. The world goes on and you're gone. The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself. Be stronger than those people. And then you can come back.

Yeah Just Walk Away....

Pictures were taken by my sister Jenny. I was modelling in clothes that she made changes to. It is for her fashion portfolio. She is hoping to do a fashion course next year. Some of the photos came out quite well.

Warning This Post Contains Spoilers

Friend: So how was Evangelion 2.0?
Amy: Ah it wasn't that good.
Friend: No, really how was it?
Amy: Ah it wasn't....., Oh my God it was the best film ever!! The animation was amazing! The new character Mari was awesome and really interesting! She is insane and Rei is a lot more human and Asuka makes an amazing entrance, fighting an angel and there was a reference from Gunbuster! Oh and in the end it had the most touching scene with Shinji fighting tooth and nail to save Rei! It was all just epic!
Friend: *Downer sigh* ooooh.....
(If you haven't copped it, the dialogue is a reference from The Simpsons when Lisa comes back from seeing the long and epic Itchy and Scratchy movie ;-))

Well I am just back fron the IFI. I had a wonderful time. I was up very early, then when I got into town I had to run to Pennys to grab tights and mascarra for my Mari cosplay. We got to the IFI just after 12 and chatted to an Eirtakon attendee. Appearently there was another cosplayer at the Evangelion showing, he was cosplaying as Gendo Ikari, who had cool black shades. It was funny sitting in the Evangelion 1.0 screening, as I regonised nobody and then when we were sitting for the Evangelion 2.0 screening I regonised lots of people and the theatre room was packed. After the 5m per second screening, which is beautiful film by Motoko Shinkai, Johnothan Clements who writes many articles on anime and two other people from the UK anime industry gave a very interesting talk on the Global Anime Industry.

Evangelion 2.0 really did live up to my hype. I was no way dissappointed. It did look really different to the original series and as much as I loved Rei in the original as she was creepy, bearly talked and distanced, I actually liked the way her personailty is becoming more developed. In the movie you see her going to events with Asuka, Shinji, Kenske and Toji and she becomes very involved with the other characters. She is also a stronger person. Mari was really funny and is insane. Before I saw the movie, I thought she would be arrogant and a bitch but she is not. She is very like Harliquinn from Batman but is..... nice, not evil. The movie had everyone in stiches with it's humour.

After the movie, Jonthan Clements, Andrew and Hugh gave a talk about the film itself and the popularity of Evangelion. There was a small reception party on afterwards but I just headed home. I will be going back to the IFI tomorrow but we will be only going to see Gundam Unicorn. Unfortunely I lost one of my Rei plugsuit interfaces which were attached to my hairband. I am hoping someone would of found it tomorrow but I doubt it. Sure there weren't that expensive so I should be able to buy them again.

I don't care if Monday's blue. Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too, Thursday I don't care about you, it's Friday, I'm in love

Oh boy, I really have a busy week ahead of me even though it is my reading week it is going to be very eventful. Monday I will be working. Tuesday, I will be having a meeting with my supervisor about my dissertation, then Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day, and I will be meeting up with the Irish Lolita group. Then Thursday, I have a photoshoot with Kieran, then Friday and Saturday, the big event! The IFI Anime Film Festival. I will actually get to see Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0. on the big screen. Being the nerd I am, I will be cosplaying as Mari Illustrious Makinami to this event.

I will be looking out for other cosplayers. ;-) I have a feeling that the Evangelion screenings will be black as they are lots of talk about it on boards.ie and eirtakon.

Thinking of Cosplay When I Should Be Studying

I am really happy as my Ayanami Rei plugsuit costume will be possible. I was no way going to pay 300-500 euro for the plugsuit online as;
1. quality would most likely be crap and maybe wouldn't fit my body shape well. The plugsuit is tight and I don't want it to be loose.
2. That is a god lot of money to be spending on a costume. I couldn't justify that.
3. I prefer to try and make it myself as it will be my own personal plugsuit and I would feel rewarded knowing that I made it or most of it myself.

So giving I went with the making it myself option, I was looking at ways how to make it. I came across a wonderful dance website which sold leotard tops. I came across a leotard top that was white, lycra, had a polar neck and long sleeved which is very accurate to the top part of the plugsuit. So I was thinking if I ordered that, I would need white leggings, watershoes or small dancing shoes (for the feet) and materiel for the details. So during my time browsing clothes shops for long white leggings, I had doubts. I was afraid if I ordered the leotard top from the dancing site, it will have a lovely white sheen as the white leggings which I saw in clothes shops were just plain white. This could look bad. Also the legging didn't look the best of quality and could ware out very easily which I wouldn't want to happen giving I would of spend a lot of time and money into making the plugsuit. I also had the worry of how to make the feet part, as leggings only go as far as the ankle.

I have watched a video on how to make a catsuit thanks to another Evangelion cosplayer. I watched the video for advice on how to do the feet, as perhaps sew on materiel at the end of the leggings? It looked very complexed. I thought it would be best to look for white leggings on dancing sites, as they would be the same materiel as the leotard top and would be excellent quality. I was very grateful when I came a dancing site which sold unitards. Look below, they are pretty much catsuits.

They have one in white lycra, polar neck, long sleeved and the best parts, they come footed and cover the hands. So if I get that unitard I would much have the base of the plugsuit done and wouldn't have to worry about the feet or the gloves. So it would be pretty much just adding on the detail. It would only cost me around 60E which isn't that bad as giving it is a dance site so I say it would be excellent quality and well it is a hell lot more cheap then the pre-made plugsuit. I am really delighted about this as when I first saw other cosplayers cosplaying as Rei in the plugsuit, I really want to that cosplay. I thought it would be impossible to make but thanks to those dancing websites they had made it possible. \0/ I am looking forward to getting abit of cash and ordering this unitard and I assume it will be the same as the white unitard above. I am also looking forward to ordering the long scruffy wig from corwox for Rei, as I know it really will look the part when I style it. The wigs there look very good quality and some even look like real hair. The unitard will have a nice shine like the figures and also which I love about it it has a zip in the back. :-) Like the real plugsuits in the series I will have to unzip myself out of it.

I really want this cosplay to be good and go to plan as I am putting a lot of thought and time into it. If the unitard and plugsuit all go to plan, I will order another unitard from the same site for Asuka's new plugsuit.

I Learned Something New in College Today.

That language interpreters in the Courts are a joke. Pretty much anyone who can speak two langauges who has no qualifications or expereince can become a language interpreter in a Court case.

Francesca Dani Coming to Brocon 2010 0_o

Oh man I am really excited right now. I just heard that this lovely professional cosplayer Francesca Dani will be a guest at a new Irish convention Brocon in July. I really like people like this because it goes to show that cosplay is not something that is silly and kiddish and it kinda gives some of us hope. Being a professional cosplayer was always a little small dream of mine and before I heard of these well known cosplayers I thought it could never be possible. She apparently won the World Cosplay Summit in 2005, which is a big competition in Japan a little similar to the Eurovision singing contest. It is not like she is my idol or anything but I really admire people who are well known for something they are good at and made themselves well known especially in cosplay when it is very niche. Being a very passionate cosplayer myself it would be interesting to get to meet someone who is well known and makes a living out if it.

Images taken from her website. Check it out: http://www.francescadani.com/
She seems really talented. So anyone going to Brocon? I really want to go now. I can see her attracting lots of people. ;-)
